"Har Har Mahadev!" I scream in vain,

As I feel the wrath of Malik Kafur's sword on my neck.

I turn to my Lord and he says "Have faith",

As another head bites the dust.

"Har Har Mahadev!" I scream in agony,

As this imbecile wreaks havoc in Darasuram.

The Lord who healed Airavat says "Have faith".

As another head bites the dust.

"Har Har Mahadev!" I scream in indignation,

As I, the sacred bull of Shiva, am ridiculed in this abominable way.

I sense my Lord's rage, but he still says "Have faith",

As another head bites the dust.

"Har Har Mahadev!" I whisper in prayer,

For the protector of dharma to end this torture.

The fearsome destroyer of evil softens at my plight, and he says "Have faith",

As another head bites the dust.

"Har Har Mahadev!" I sigh in defeat,

As a Chola masterpiece is reduced to a fraction of its former glory.

I begin to question if my Lord feels my pain when all he says is "Have faith",

As every Nandi’s head bites the dust.

"Har Har Mahadev!" I scream in triumph,

As my destroyer reaps his Karma.

I kneel before my Lord and say "I always had faith",

As Malik Kafur's head bites the dust.

And the silent screams of statues gradually turn to cheers.

-A tribute to the decapitated Nandi statues at Airavateshwara temple, Darasuram.
